A Twin Cities man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly impersonated a cop during a bizarre incident on the highway in northwest metro last week.
The criminal complaint against 47-year-old Luke A. Reuter, of Inver Grove Heights, says the victim of Reuter's alleged crimes was a Maple Grove police officer.
Reuter is charged in Hennepin County with 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing police in a motor vehicle and two counts of impersonating a police officer in connection with the incident.
According to charges, Reuter was traveling southbound on Highway 169 around 9:40 a.m. when he allegedly drove up close to the rear of an unmarked police vehicle being driven by an officer in full uniform.
Charges state Reuter followed the officer closely and eventually accelerate
