MINNESOTA —

Desmond Ridder has joined the quarterback room in Minnesota.

The former St. X Tiger and free agent agreed to a deal with the Vikings, adding another arm to their 53-man roster as a third healthy quarterback option after starter J.J. McCarthy suffered an ankle injury.

Ridder joins rookie Max Brosmer on the depth chart, with Carson Wentz getting the start for the Vikings in Week 3 against the Bengals.

The Louisville native spent time with the Bengals during training camp, but was released last month.

A third-round pick in 2022, Ridder appeared in 25 games with 18 starts over the last three seasons with the Atlanta and Las Vegas Raiders, completing 63.6% of his passes and throwing for 4,002 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
