LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two Jefferson County Public School students are being celebrated for their new book.

Ramon Miranda and Aylin Muñoz are seniors at Fairdale High School.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, both are going to different elementary schools in the district to read their book, “Ximena’s First Day of Class.”

The book is about a first generation Mexican American student who is navigating the hardships of being different, feeling isolated and finding a teacher who helped them find comfort in a strange space.

They planned and wrote the book hoping to share what other kids have experienced in elementary school.
