ELMA — The Forks girls volleyball team swept Elma 3-0, though it was a tightly contested match with scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.
Monday’s victory was Forks’ first win of the year.
“I’m really proud of how the girls played last night,” said coach Jennifer LeDuke. “Even though Avery Dilley, our starting middle [hitter], was out with an injury, everyone stepped up. We had to move some players into new positions, and two freshmen [Leighton Foster and Lyric Neel] got to play varsity for the first time this season.
“They handled it really well and didn’t let the changes slow them down. The freshman setters did a great job, and the whole team stayed focused and worked hard. As a coach, it was great to see how coachable and adaptable they were. They kept a positive attitude and got the job do
