JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) - A nine-day special legislative session cost Missouri taxpayers over $170,000.

Each extra day lawmakers are in session costs taxpayers money. Representatives and Senators make the same daily pay for each extra day they’re in session, $142.40, and representatives get reimbursed $0.66 per mile, according to nonpartisan Capitol staff.

For travel and daily costs, the Missouri representatives were paid $138,706.20 for the special session. Senators were paid $13,955.20. An additional cost accrued from this special session was the software used to draw the new map, called Maptitude, which cost taxpayers $21,000. The total price tag for this special session lands around $173,661.80.
