EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- Douglass Elementary School has been selected as one of this year's Extra Yard Teachers winners and earned $4,000 to enhance the school, according to the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) in a news release.

On Tuesday morning, Sept. 16, Douglass Elementary had a special visit from representatives and student-athletes from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

"Every year, we partner with the College Football Foundation, as well as Conference USA, to award a deserving school with a grant. And the grant is normally to enhance the school, to encourage the students, and really to empower the teachers of today to continue to push forward in educating our students," director of Student Athlete Development, Amanda Pulido, said.
