DENVER (KDVR) — It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Batman and that other masked guy?

Two Commerce City police officers dressed up for "attention and because who doesn't like Batman and that other masked guy?" — it's the helmet of Master Chief from the Halo video games.

The officers didn't decide to just dress up spontaneously. They are just getting a head start on their third consecutive "Costumes with a Cop" celebration and giveaway.

During this event, the police will hand out free costumes with no catch or signing up needed. The Commerce City Police Department said it has handed out 250 costumes per year for the last two years, and the costumes are in brand-new or gently used, but excellent condition.
