INDIANAPOLIS — Recent cuts in childcare vouchers for Hoosiers go into effect Oct. 5.

Parent Jessica Peirson says next month, she'll need to pay an additional $50 a week for childcare.

"All I needed was CCDF. That was it, that was all I'm on and then now that that's going to be cut. I don't know because I don't have any other support," Pierson said

She's not alone.

Early Learning Indiana says since 2024, the state cut more than 8,000 vouchers.

Single mom Marissa Cole fears she's next.

"Betrayed, like because it's a system that claims that it's helping and that it's there for you," Cole said.

Cole says if her child's voucher is cut, she'll be forced to pull him from care.

Indiana Family and Social Services say they made the cuts to close a funding gap.
