For the fourth straight year, an MLB franchise has a new single-season home run leader.
With his second home run of the night on Tuesday in Kansas City -- his 56th of the season -- Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh matched Ken Griffey Jr. for the franchise's single-season record. Raleigh's first homer of the game moved him past Mickey Mantle for the most homers in a season by a switch-hitter, and he passed Javy Lopez for the most homers as a catcher earlier in the year.
Raleigh is just the latest hitter to shatter his team's single-season mark. Shohei Ohtani did it for the Dodgers during his three-homer game to join the 50-50 club in 2024. Matt Olson did it by hitting 54 home runs for the Braves in 2023, and Aaron Judge did it for the Yankees in 2022 with his AL-record 62 homers.
