Rep. Yvette Clarke, chair of the influential Congressional Black Caucus, says President Donald Trump is trying to “whitewash” American history.
In an interview with Spectrum News NY1, the Democratic Brooklyn congresswoman criticized the president for taking issue with exhibits at national parks and museums about slavery and other seismic events in United States history that portray the country in a negative light.
The Trump administration, she said, is in “denial” about the “accurate” history of the U.S.
“The American people have a right to know history in its entirety: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly — and we have it all,” Clarke said.
