MANCHESTER, N.H. —

Legendary actor and director Robert Redford has died at 89 .

He was known for his decades-long Hollywood career, including appearances in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Sting" and "The Candidate."

In 1987, Redford visited New Hampshire and stopped at Dartmouth College, where he held a seminar with drama and film students.

Redford was honored by the Dartmouth Film Society, receiving the Dartmouth Film Award for his contributions to film and for founding the Sundance Institute.
