LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A non-profit called A Brighter Way, focusing on mentoring and guiding formerly incarcerated people, is impacting those throughout the state of Michigan.

Getting out of prison and getting yourself back into society is hard, but Executive Director Adam Grant says all you need is just a bit of extra support.

"At A Brighter Way, we do social supports and service connections,” said Grant. “Social supports being the most important because a lot of times when people are released from incarceration, they don't feel a part of something."

The mentoring program first started back in 2016 in Washtenaw County, by three people who also served time in prison. The organization focuses on transitioning people back into society by forming interpersonal relationships, with services
