Sam Konstas, after conquering mental demons in his century against India A, has been issued a fresh challenge from Australian Test hierarchy.

While rapt with Konstas' 109 from 144 balls for Australia A in Lucknow on Tuesday, Australia's coach Andrew McDonald says the 19-year-old now must sustain his promising form.

After a miserable tour of West Indies left him at risk of being dropped from the Test team, the opener is in an early season purple patch.

He struck 109 for NSW Country against City earlier this month before posting the same score in India on Tuesday.

On a wicket that seamed early more than it spun, Konstas hit 18 from his first 46 balls against an India A attack featuring Test quick Prasidh Krishna.
