In a uniform again, now behind a Fort Worth police badge, Chief Eddie Garcia called Tuesday’s milestone a new chapter of his calling, acknowledging the sacrifices of his new police department.
“You stand in the line during long nights and early mornings, face danger head-on and carry the burden of protecting the city,” Garcia said.
Dozens of Fort Worth police listened in as their new chief was sworn in, vowing his department’s presence will mean accountability for criminals.
“We will be visible, we will be prepared, and we will relentlessly protect this city from those who threaten its safety,” Garcia said.
Garcia says he’s already reached out to criminologists to evaluate Fort Worth crime and plans to tap on current leadership, including one of his fellow chief finalists, Robert All
