Northampton Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra emerged as a heavy favorite to win the November election after a preliminary on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Sciarra, the incumbent mayor, earned 2,991 votes out of 6,301 ballots cast in unofficial election night tallies, taking nearly double her closest competitor.

The other mayoral candidate who will advance to the November ballot with Sciarra is Jillian Duclos, who received 1,510 votes.

Candidates Daniel Breindel and David Dombrowski were both eliminated.

The field narrowed for a number of City Council seats as well.

A total of six candidates ran for two at-large seats on the City Council. Four will advance to the November ballot.

The four candidates to advance will be:

Garrick Perry (2,249 votes)

Margaret Robbins (2,201 votes)
