The decomposing body found in a car belonging to a popular singer days after he performed at Chicago's Salt Shed was identified as a teenage girl, authorities told NBC 4 LA Investigates.

Tow yard employees reported a strong odor coming from the impounded Tesla, that is registered to singer D4vd, NBC 4 LA reported . Officers opened the car's front trunk and found the girl's remains in a bag, police said.

Based on forensic analysis, the girl is estimated to have been between the ages of 14-years-old and 15-years-old, authorities said. Her name and exact age have not been released because authorities say her next of kin has still not been located.

The cause of death is still being determined.
