CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Communities across north Georgia lined the streets Tuesday, standing shoulder to shoulder, in support of McCaysville Police Captain Brantley Worley as he returned home after being shot in the line of duty.
Escorted by dozens of law enforcement agencies, the motorcade carried Worley from a Chattanooga hospital across the Tennessee border, through McCaysville where he serves as police captain, and finally back to Cherokee County where he lives. Credit: Provided
Hundreds of people lined the streets in both towns to cheer, wave flags and pray for his recovery. The crowd in McCaysville was so large, officials said it briefly delayed the motorcade.
