GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Tighter regulations for Paris Mountain have been approved, while the future of cluster housing in Greenville County has officially been put on pause at Tuesday’s County Council meeting.

County council unanimously passed an ordinance to strengthen environmental protections on Paris Mountain.

The changes would tighten language around future developments, including that structures must conform to the area’s natural landscape.

The ordinance follows intense pushback and the ultimate denial of a luxury hotel on Paris Mountain.

One county resident said, “It’s incredible that we had this finally happen. I wasn’t sure if we would ever get here. People have tried this for over decades.“
