IOWA CITY — Kaden Wetjen almost made you forget about it.
With 182 yards and a touchdown on four punt returns and 34 yards on his lone kick return, the Williamsburg native made up for Iowa’s special teams miscues in last Saturday’s 47-7 win over UMass. But, he didn’t completely erase them from memory.
In the lopsided win, the Hawkeyes surrendered a blocked punt and kicker Drew Stevens missed a 34-yard field goal and an extra point kick.
After the game, head coach Kirk Ferentz said Stevens “didn’t have the best night of his career,” but he expected the North Augusta, South Carolina native to bounce back.
On Tuesday, Ferentz addressed the blocked punt at length.
“Anytime you can survive a punt block in a game, that’s rare,” Ferentz said. “So, definitely need to get that cleaned up.”
