It’s estimated that pet-related spending second-largest pet supply chain in the U.S.,has increased 90% since 2013, skyrocketing to an average of $876 per year.
But not every retailer that sells animal supplies is enjoying the flush times.
Petco recently announced it was closing 25 locations in 2025, the same number of stores it shuttered in 2024. The closures come as net sales dipped 2.3% to $1.5 billion for the second quarter of the year while comparable sales fell 1.4%, Fast Company reported.
