COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - During its Tuesday meeting, the Columbia City Council deferred its vote on repealing the moratorium on short-term rentals for a second time.
The ordinance was initially passed in June following a shooting at an Airbnb that killed one and injured three.
Mayor Daniel Rickenmann said during the meeting that the council was deferring a second reading vote because they wanted to have time to release new maps and additional information about potential locations and future opportunities for those interested in short-term rentals.
“We are leaving it at the status quo to make sure we have time to get all of this information and all of these maps out to the public prior to the public planning commission meeting,” he said during the meeting.
