NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KETK)- Nacogdoches County's $75 million county jail bond proposition was a top concern in Nacogdoches tonight as the county held its first town hall where residents could address their concerns about the bond.
"My big concern is that we have been putting out $1.5 million a year to house prisoners outside the county," Nacogdoches resident Cindy Sessions said.
She explained that the current county jail doesn't have enough space for today's inmates and she wants to know if the proposed bond would have enough room for today's jail population and the future population.
"When you build a facility, allow room for growth, don't build it for the current capacity right now," Sessions said.
The proposition would allow the creation of a new jail that's expected to last 30-plus
