HERMON -- A garage was destroyed and a home was badly damaged after a fire in Hermon on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say dispatchers got the call around 4:30 in the afternoon for a fire on Beech Ridge Drive in Hermon.
Mutual aid from many surrounding towns responded to the scene to assist.
One of the homeowners sustained minor injuries while evacuating the home.
The investigation is ongoing.
"Right now we are still investigating the cause and origin of the fire, but we believe it may have started in the area of the garage...the garage is a total loss and there is heavy fire and smoke damage to a good portion of the building," said Chief Cody Sullivan of the Hermon Fire Department.
