BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio -- City Council has rejected a proposed agreement that would settle two lawsuits Sheetz Inc. filed against the city in March and April.
Under the agreement proposed by Sheetz, the company would have given the city $250,000 -- to use as it wished -- in exchange for the city allowing Sheetz to build a gas station, convenience store and restaurant at the northeast corner of Broadview and East Wallings roads.
The money might have been used to improve traffic conditions or flow at Broadview and East Wallings. But the city could have spent the money for any purpose.
Sheetz also would have agreed not to place signs on Interstate 77 near the Wallings northbound and southbound exits inviting drivers to stop at the Broadview-East Wallings gas station/store/restaurant.
