Police in Nsanje have arrested a man on suspicion of attempting to vote twice during Tuesday’s elections.
Presiding officer at Nsanje Primary School polling station, Hekitala Kalonga, confirmed the development, saying the suspect whose name has been withheld was advised to stand in the correct queue according to his name.
However, instead of following the instructions, the man reportedly joined another queue and successfully cast his ballot.
Kalonga explained that after voting, the suspect did not leave the polling station but went back to join his original queue. When officials checked his name again, they discovered that he had already voted.
The man is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
