BBC Breakfast host announces sad news as grieving parents break down in tears

Parents whose two-year-old daughter died from undiagnosed type 1 diabetes wept as they featured on BBC Breakfast to highlight awareness of the condition.

Lyla Story died in her sleep in May, less than 24 hours after a doctor had diagnosed her with tonsillitis. It was later determined she had diabetes, with a coroner now calling for improved recognition of the condition's warning signs.

During Wednesday's (September 17) edition of the BBC show, Lyla's parents, Emma and John, were upset when they described their daughter as a "kind, compassionate, caring young girl."
