After Canyon's boys and girls cross country teams claimed state titles again in 2024, both groups seem poised to compete for another UIL championship in 2025.

Wes Kirton and Ray Baca's teams have had strong starts to the year, with the Lady Eagles winning the Amarillo ISD Invitational on Sept. 6, and the Eagles earning the top spot amongst Class 4A teams at the Coach T Invitational, hosted by Flower Mound Marcus.

Over the weekend, both teams continued their impressive campaigns with a pair of wins at separate meets.

Kirton's team won the Lovejoy Cross Country Fall Festival, another meet in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, with 125 points. The Eagles beat out Prosper, who placed second in the team standings with 142 points while McKinney North rounded out the top three at 152.
