Fall hasn't started yet, but The Old Farmer’s Almanac is already looking ahead to winter.

The publication has released its extended winter weather forecast , and depending on where you live in New York, the severity of the season may vary.

Nationwide, the 2025-26 Winter Weather Forecast predicts a winter that will be “mostly mild — with pockets of wild,” featuring near-normal to mild temperatures across much of the U.S. However, certain areas should brace for colder-than-usual conditions.
