During 20 years of Oktoberfest at the Lorelei Inn , Lynne Stahl has seen it all, but you might not have seen her.
“I don’t get out of the basement. They lock me in the basement,” she jokes.
Stahl, who owns the 73-year-old German-style restaurant and bar in Allouez with her brother, Dave Hack, and her daughter, Meagan Colombo, works mostly behind the scenes during the popular end-of-summer celebration that draws 3,000 to 4,000-plus people across two days of food, beer and music. If she’s not in the kitchen, she’s in the basement doing the bookwork.
That’s where you’ll mostly find her again this weekend for the 20th anniversary Oktoberfest Sept. 19-20 — a milestone not just for the Lorelei but also for Stahl. This will be her last. She’s retiring after this one.
