Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Jessie Kabwila has urged supporters to remain calm and not lose hope, saying the party is confident it has won the election and is now simply waiting for the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to officially announce the results.

Speaking at a press conference in Lilongwe, she emphasized that MCP respects the electoral process and the rule of law, and called on supporters to be patient and peaceful during this critical time.

Kabwila also warned against misinformation, urging the public to rely only on official updates from MEC.

She reiterated that the MCP believes Malawians have spoken clearly through the ballot and expressed strong confidence in a Chakwera victory.
