Some fantasy football team owners may be in search of a quarterback with all of the injuries that have mounted up in the NFL at that position. I'm one of those who had a certain quarterback go down for an extended period of time. The good news is, plenty of good waiver wire pickups remain. Let's see who you should start/sit for Week 3.
Start - Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys play the Chicago Bears this weekend. So far, the Bears' defense has really struggled against the pass. Specifically in the 4th quarter against J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings, and most recently to Jared Goff, who unloaded on them for five touchdowns and no interceptions. Dak Prescott has figured out a way to play turnover-free football and will be looking to exploit the Bears' secondary down a couple of players.
Start - Daniel Jones, QB, Indianapolis Colts
Daniel Jones trails only Lamar Jackson in the fantasy scoring output per game for quarterbacks. It is odd to start with Jones, and one could argue when the real Daniel Jones will emerge. But, he seems like a totally different QB since getting out of New York. There may be something to a new coach/new system after all. After torching one of the best defenses in the league (Denver Broncos), Jones will now face a struggling Tennessee Titans squad, and could keep it rolling.
Start - Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
Honestly, there are people out there who are starting Mahomes religiously every week, and that's fine, but they sit at 0-2. The bickering within has already begun to emerge on the sidelines as well. In the past, when this has happened, Mahomes has gone out and put a great game together by placing the Chiefs on his back and making a run all the way through the playoffs. Expect nothing but the same against the New York Giants for the Chiefs as the ascent begins to take place.
Sit - Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers
Just like in the Week 3 running back edition of Start/Sit, we have chosen to take another Carolina Panthers player who is up against their bitter rival, the Atlanta Falcons. Oftentimes, it is easy to dismiss the Falcons and defense in the same breath, but their defense is athletic and talented this year, unlike years in the past. Atlanta is currently number two in total defense and among the leaders in takeaways. Look for them to force Bryce Young into more turnovers.
Sit - Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Lawrence does have over 400 yards passing through two games, but the pass per attempt isn't there and sits at just over 6 yards per throw. This will not be enough against the Houston Texans. Plus, three of the Jaguars' biggest weapons have been nonexistent in Travis Hunter, Brian Thomas Jr., and Dyami Brown. The Texans sit at 8th in fantasy production allowed to an opposing QB.
Sit - Bo Nix, QB, Denver Broncos
This one could get messy against a very tough Los Angeles Chargers team, which has a gentleman named Derwin James who would love a chance to force turnovers or get an interception. Nix has already thrown 3 interceptions on the year, and the Chargers' defense could bait him into a couple more the way they love to disguise coverages.
