GRAND FORKS — Not long ago, Matt Bredemeier was operating out of a cozy makeshift office in the Subaru Kia location on Gateway Drive in Grand Forks.

An early January 2024 fire damaged the building and Subaru Kia did what it could to keep the operation going.

Fast forward 20 months and both Subaru and Kia are doing just fine. Bredemeier also has a new, larger office.

Bredemeier is owner and general manager of both the new Subaru location on South Columbia Road and the longstanding Kia location on Gateway Drive. The new Subaru building, which previously shared the Gateway location with Grand Forks Kia operations, opened to the public June 23. The dealership now is in the new building at the busy south-end corner of Columbia and 40th Avenue South.
