HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A popular online service at the Hastings Public Library has been saved from in this round of budget cuts, thanks to supporters, who stepped up during Monday night’s city council special meeting.
The free service ‘Hoopla’ allows patrons to be able to have free access to movies, audio/E-books, music and more, as long as they have a library card.
The service and a reduction in the Library’s hours were among the items proposed as a way of cutting the budget during Monday night’s meeting.
At the start of the meeting, many residents and library staff came forward and spoke about how a reduction in hours and the loss of Hoopla would affect them, their families and the community. After hearing this, the city council amended the budget to keep the current hours and ‘Hoop
