A West Midlands council says it is cracking down on utility companies causing disruption through roadworks.
Wolverhampton council said it is 'doubling down on its efforts' to ensure roadworks are 'completed quickly and correctly'.
The local authority said utility companies responsible for water, gas and electricity are responsible for more than two-thirds of roadworks in the city.

A council spokesperson said: "The council closely monitors them and when they fail to comply with strict rules around roadworks fines are issued, with the money reinvested into fixing roads, tackling potholes and more."
