POTOSI, Mo. (KFVS) - An investigation is underway after the death of an inmate at the Potosi Correctional Center.

Richard Allbritton, 65, was serving a life sentence for the rape of a 14-year-old girl in Cape Girardeau.

The crime happened in 1981.

He was also in prison for burglary and a long list of other crimes in Bollinger County.

The Missouri Department of Corrections says Allbritton died at the prison on Monday afternoon, September 15.

No word on the cause of death. An autopsy is planned.
