Planes had a tough time landing at Heathrow Airport as the site was lashed by powerful winds. Video footage reveals numerous aircraft grappling with severe cross winds, with some having to abandon their landings and attempt again yesterday, Tuesday, September 16.
British Airways and Aer Lingus flights were seen nearly touching down before ascending again, while an American Airlines jet endured a particularly shaky landing. A yellow wind warning from the Met Office blanketed most of England and all of Wales until 6pm on Tuesday. The wet and windy weather is set to persist, with rain alerts issued for parts of Wales on Wednesday.
This follows after blustery conditions swept across the country, with gusts reaching up to 80mph recorded by the Met Office overnight on Sunday.
