ATLANTA — Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced Wednesday he's running for governor.
The state's top election official steps into the 2026 race looking to make the same jump current Gov. Brian Kemp did in 2018, from the secretary of state's office to the governor's mansion.
He joins a Republican primary field that already includes Lt. Gov. Burt Jones and Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr.
“Hardworking Georgians are struggling to put food on the table. Parents worry about their kids being indoctrinated in the classroom. Too many families live in fear of gangs, cartels, and violent criminals,” Raffensperger said in a news release.
