LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Featuring images of landscape, nature and wildlife grace, the Beck Center for the Arts presents a new photo exhibit by resident Rita Elswick.

“It’s pretty exciting,” said Cleveland native Elswick.

“While I have other works at the Beck Center, this is my first solo show there.”

The display features roughly 20 of the local artist’s framed photographs, prints and cards from Sept. 20 through Jan. 15 along the walls of the Music and Creative Arts Therapies Building.

“There are landscapes, from like Edgewater Park, and pictures of hawks, scenery and wildlife,” she said.

Elswick, who suffered a spinal cord injury 20 years ago, uses photography as a healing source, displaying how the human spirit has the ability to heal itself through art.
