HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man was charged with murder after a fatal shooting last week in Hartford, police said.

Xavier Soto, 34, of Vernon, turned himself in on Tuesday and was charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm, risk of injury to a child, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.

Authorities responded to the 300 block of Broadview Terrace at around 6:52 p.m. on Friday for a report of a shooting.

Police at the scene found 38-year-old Miguel Alfinez suffering from a couple of gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Soto's bond was set at $2 million.
