The University of Michigan will host a swimming event to honor a former Wolverine swimmer who died by suicide.

The fourth annual Team Be Better; Invitational will take place on Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. inside Canham Natatorium on the Michigan campus. The meet will honor Ian Miskelley and promote mental health awareness in college athletics.

Miskelley died by suicide in September 2020 . He was 19. The Holland native was a junior at Michigan.

At the time, his parents were determined to help other families avoid the same tragedy. Be Better; was the result , a foundation that aims to bridge certain gaps in the healthcare system to make mental health services more accessible.
