The search for a person of interest wanted in connection with a double homicide in Pushmataha County has ended after the subject was killed on Tuesday.

On Sept. 11, Pushmataha County Sheriff's deputies responded to a welfare check near Clayton, where they found two people, an elderly male and female, shot to death.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) says 35-year-old Jeffrey Baker, the couple's son, was identified as a person of interest in the investigation.

Authorities in Texas say on Tuesday, Baker was spotted walking along an El Paso highway and confronted by local deputies.

After being approached by law enforcement, authorities say Baker shot and killed himself.
