HERRIN — The Carterville Lions volleyball team fought off a ferocious third-period comeback attempt from the Herrin Tigers Tuesday, prevailing in three sets: 18-25, 25-20, 25-22.

The Lions led by as many as eight points in that third set at 19-11 before Herrin rallied to tie the set at 20 all.
