With the school year back in full swing and a federal push for changes to the country’s school systems , public education has remained a relevant topic.

Although public education has many national guidelines, each state has its own set of standards that can affect the quality of education.

ConsumerAffairs , a consumer research journal, recently ranked all 50 states based on their public education. Results from their research show that a large quantity of lower-performing states are concentrated in the South and West, while half of the top 10 performing states are in the Northeast.
