Lansing — Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, who's running to be Michigan's next governor as an independent, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, who's campaigning for the job as a Democrat, both rolled out endorsements from the Teamsters this week.

On Tuesday afternoon, Duggan's team announced that it had won the backing of the statewide Michigan Teamsters Joint Council 43 "on behalf of their 10 affiliated local unions." However, the president of one of those local unions, Scott Quenneville, of Teamsters Local 243, asked for the Duggan press release to be retracted Tuesday because his organization was endorsing Benson.
