Paul Thomas Anderson has said the ideas that finally made up his new film, One Battle After Another have been rolling around his head for 20 years looking for a way to get it right.

Working in a contemporary setting for a change after such landmark period-set films like Licorice Pizza, Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and more, this film is hard to categorize. It represents his long held desire to make an action film with chases, fights etc, but it also could be called a comedy, an emotional story of the love between father and daughter, a political satire – you name it.
