LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier played through a torso injury during the first three games, but the Tigers do not plan on sitting him this weekend against Southeastern Louisiana.
Brian Kelly reiterated Wednesday that Nussmeier is “on the other side” of the injury, which he developed in preseason camp and has caused tightness.
“I think he needs to play, and Garrett wants to play,” Kelly said. “He’s capable of playing. As I said, the torso injury slowed him up and it slowed up, in some instances, the development of the offense because we needed to be very careful with him.”
Kelly said the injury resulted from Nussmeier throwing a lot over the summer. There were two preseason practices open to the media in which Nussmeier did not throw. Kelly said LSU limited what Nussmeier did at p
