ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Northwestern College says there will be a new space for outdoor gatherings and a walkway for De Valois Stadium.

The public is invited to join the groundbreaking for the all-new Colenbrander Plaza on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 5 p.m.

According to a release, the plaza is to be located where Colenbrander Hall once stood.

The space is set to be a place for gatherings throughout the year and a walkway that funnels people toward the football stadium. It will have brick pillars on each side, similar to others on campus.

The plaza will also include seat walls and a large athletic logo featuring a commemorative plaque on the back to remember the legacy and impact of Reverend Henry Colenbrander.

Colenbrander served as Northwestern’s board president from 1926 to 1960.
