PIERRE, S.D. (KTIV) - South Dakota has a new representative for District 16 in the South Dakota House of Representatives.

Gov. Larry Rhoden announced on Wednesday, Sept. 17, that John Shubeck will be representing District 16, effective immediately.

“John embodies the core values of not only South Dakota, but also of late Representative Vasgaard,” said Gov. Rhoden. ”He has lived a life of service and hard work as a veteran, a coach, a church elder, and a Turner County farmer. I trust he will carry on his proud legacy of service in this new role."

The seat was previously held by Richard Vasgaard, who passed away in August.
