The Penguins are bringing forward Robby Fabbri, a former NHL first-round pick, to training camp on a professional tryout agreement, a source told the Post-Gazette.

Fabbri, who spent last season with Anaheim, will join a crowded group of forwards at coach Dan Muse’s first camp. But there is still a pathway to an NHL opportunity.

The 29-year-old was drafted 21st overall by the St. Louis Blues in 2014. In 2015-16, Fabbri put up 18 goals and 37 points as a rookie. Both totals remain career highs.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound winger spent parts of four NHL seasons in St. Louis and another five in Detroit. He had eight goals in 44 games with the Ducks last season.

Over his career, the Ontario native has 106 goals, 216 points and a minus-95 rating.
