A New Jersey man died Tuesday after suffering a medical event while bear hunting in Maine, officials said.
David Ridgeway, 69, of Bridgeton, collapsed at about 8 a.m. while walking in the woods of Somerset County, Maine, with a hunting group, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Members of his group attempted CPR, but Ridgeway died at the scene, officials said.
Authorities were dispatched to Pierce Pond Township, near the Dead River, and later transported Ridgeway’s body to Wiles Funeral Home in Farmington, according to a news release.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no additional information was available Wednesday morning.
